FY21 New Board Member Orientation Training

Feb 23-24, 2021

GSBA is pleased to offer New Board Member Orientation training, February 23rd  & 24th. State law and state board rules require school board members to obtain board governance training each year. First-year board members are required to secure fifteen total hours of training. New board members will hear from expert special guests from the Georgia Department of Education, the Georgia School Superintendents Association and the Georgia School Boards Association. 

This two-day virtual orientation session costs $220 and provides 12 total hours of credits to meet the state requirements.

Day 1- February 23, 2021 @ 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

The first day consists of 6 hours of training credit focused on financial governance for new public school board members and new charter school board members, provided by the Georgia Department of Education (DOE).

Day 2- February 24, 2021 @ 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

New school board members will secure an additional 6 hours of training credits emphasizing multiple topics such as legal issues, roles and responsibilities, parliamentary procedure and the Georgia Standards for Effective Governance.
