This is a convenient way to obtain the necessary credit for annual training (see O.C.G.A 20-2-230). Three excellent programs are available for board members, superintendents and other educational professionals who represent local boards of education. Below is a brief description of each workshop with pricing.

Pre-Conference Workshops -

New Board Member Orientation (June 7-8, 2017) - $
295.00
The finest introduction to local school board service found anywhere. All new school board members are required by law (O.C.G.A 20-2-230) to attend New Board Member Orientation within the first year of assuming office. In the day and a half training, school board members will be introduced to school law, school finance issues including budget, parliamentary procedures, superintendent evaluation process and much more.   The workshop begins at 1:00 PM on Wednesday.  Lunch is included in this registration fee for Thursday.  Participants must attend both days of this workshop and will receive 9 credit hours.

GSBA Equity Workshop (June 8, 2017) $230.00

Data is fundamental to effective school governance, yet many school board members aren't experts in education data and aren't sure where to begin.  Data First is a data-decision making process - developed by NSBA's Center for Public Education along with state school board associations in California, Illinois and Michigan - that is designed specifically to help school boards use data effectively in their governance role. Explore how boards can use data to set goals, align resources, and monitor actions to improve outcomes for their students.  Learn how other Georgia boards are using data to form their decisions about student achievement.   Lunch is included in the registration fee. This workshop begins at 8:30 AM.

GSBA Summer Conference - (June 9-10, 2017) - $350.00 - On May 22, 2017 the fee increases to - $420.00
