VIRTUAL NEW BOARD MEMBER ORIENTATION
New Board Member Orientation (NBMO) provides the basics of board service for
newly elected or appointed school board members. We have updated our NBMO
format so that it includes two full days of content for this year’s group of
new board members, provided in two, one-day events. You may register your new board member for either the session on Dec. 2 or the session on Dec. 11. This registration is only for Dec. 11.
PART 1: The first day
will be held twice on December 2 and December 11
ASBA will cover legal issues related to school boards including Open Meeting
Law (OML), the importance of educational equity in the work boards do, school
board meetings, funding, and tips and tricks to get ready yourself for your
first term as a school board member. Attendees will also hear an overview of
the services and opportunities provided throughout the year by ASBA to school
boards statewide.
