Arkansas School Laws Annotated

2021-2022 Edition

The Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA) is accepting pre-orders for the 2021-2022 edition of Arkansas School Laws Annotated.  Another “first” in a year that has produced several firsts, the publication will be offered with an eBook option along with the standard printed version.

What is an eBook? An eBook functions like its printed counterpart.  It can be viewed on a desktop, laptop, or mobile devices. The eBook will be offered as an EPUB file, a common format for PC, Mac, Apple, Android, NOOK and Sony devices. Kindle users will have the option to receive their copy in a MOBI file format if they choose.  Request this format in the Lexis Nexis store before downloading your copies.  A reminder will arrive with your license agreement.

The electronic publication will offer searchable index and text. After the initial download, you will not need an internet connection to view your copy. Like a printed copy, the electronic version can be used by one person at a time. Copy and print restrictions will be in place to limit copy and print functions.

Benefits of the Publication

  • ASBA’s Model Policy Service provides districts with a template for policy manuals.  All public school districts subscribe to policy service.  While the service provides guidance on appropriate responses to laws, it doesn’t restate the law.  Districts are encouraged to provide copies of the law book to all district and building administrators as well as other employees that work on policy manuals.  The book provides context and annotation that detail the history of changes to laws over time.
  • DIY Using Search Engines can lead to results, but will they be current? Results can vary depending on the search engine used.  The websites users navigate to often contain a disclaimer on the accuracy of the results of your search. With ASBA’s Arkansas School Laws Annotated, you have access to the most current laws with annotation to help understand the history of the law.  No guesswork.
  • Regulatory Issues The publication is also accepted as a common frame of reference used by school administrators, the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education and Arkansas Legislative Audit.

ASBA does not order copies beyond those in that are pre-ordered.  For printed copies, provide a physical address.  Books can not be shipped to PO Boxes.  For eBooks, provide a valid email address before check out.  If you have questions, please contact Kathy Ivy at kivy@arsba.org.
