Arkansas School Boards Association 2018 Annual Conference
Student-Focused Leadership
December 5-7, 2018
The Marriott Hotel and Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock
Keynote: How much Fidelity does your District’s School Safety Approach Have?
Michael Dorn, Executive Director of Safe Havens International, the world’s largest school safety center, will kick off the conference with a highly engaging keynote, How much Fidelity does your District’s School Safety Approach Have?
Dorn will provide attendees with a clear understanding of what evaluation systems a school district should have in place to determine whether or not high-stakes life safety measures are reasonably reliable, court defensible and ethically responsible. This session is based on security assessments for more than 6,000 K12 schools and the presenter’s post-incident assistance for several hundred school crisis events. Dorn will also address:
• School violence fact versus fiction – debunking common and deadly school safety myths.
• How school districts should verify integrity of prevention policies, preparedness plans, strategies and practices.
• Case study - the amazing power of school systems to profoundly affect the lives of students.
